Cravant-les-Coteaux has a vast array of terroirs and exposures. The valley that slopes down to the Vienne consists of a mixture of clay, sand and gravel all distributed over a limestone base. The hillside (les “coteaux”) has a very high limestone content and due south exposure.
Les Battereaux
Cravant-les-Coteaux is remarkable for its unique terroir(s) and seven distinct areas within Cravant have been granted lieux-dit status. Among those seven is Les Battereaux where our two hectares of old vines create an extraordinary expression of cabernet franc that speaks directly of its origin.
